At the southern tip of Africa two mighty, but opposing oceans meet – the cool Atlantic Ocean and the warm Indian Ocean—creating extraordinary grape growing conditions. Grapes here aren’t hurried but develop over time, resulting in Two Ocean wines that are fresh, delicious, and full of life. The fruit for this blend was sourced from prime vineyards in the coastal areas of the region.
The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes were separately harvested and vinified. In the winery the grapes were left on the skins for four to five days to allow for maximum colour and flavour extraction while keeping tannins approachable. Following vinification, the Cabernet was carefully blended with Merlot to produce the final wine. This was then matured in vats for several months to allow all the respective flavours to marry and then bottled. No oak was used.
Deep ruby colour and showing floral, cassis and herbal aromas with notes of mushrooms and spice. The palate is medium bodied, not overly complex, but full of flavour with cherry, cassis, red plums, and blackberry fruit, with notes of smoke, liquorice, and soft medium tannins.
This is an easy drinking style, good with food, or on its own. An easy accompaniment to red meat dishes such as roast lamb, stews, and grilled meat as well as with robust pasta dishes.
Yet another restaurant wine where its price would indicate a retail of around £8.
