In 1942 the last Brown Bear was spotted in Northern California… at least that’s what we thought. Turns out that the kids who attended the Bar 49 Summer Camp on the Keith Family land (now known as Maxville) had a run in with a Brown Bear in the 60’s. He was legendary, the stuff of folklore…the subject of campfire circle stories for decades. His name was Big Max.

Through four generations, the Terlatos have brought the world’s finest wines to the American table as importers, marketers and vintners. Rather than focusing on a single grape or place, Tony Terlato and his family have assembled an all-star team of winemakers with the tools to create best-in-class wines from iconic appellations to capture “magic in a glass” as Tony says. These wines reflect the family’s highest values, and their vision of all that can be realized from soil, grape and commitment.

A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, all of which are vinified separately. Once blended the wine is aged for 12 months, 35% of this in new French Oak barrels. Deep purple in colour. The bouquet shows aroma’s of black cherry, plum, toasty oak and vanilla, followed by hints of raspberry and herbs. Juicy on the palate with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
