Originally from Bordeaux in France, Merlot is ideally suited to the growing conditions in Chile's Rapel Valley where phylloxera free ungrafted vines, produce a Merlot with its own unique flavour.

This superb Merlot is made to the Reserva level by renowned winemakers Concha Y Toro, under their Casillero del Diablo label. Vinified from grapes grown in selected vineyards in the Rapel Valley, which are fermented using traditional techniques, but in an ultra-modern winery. Following vinification, 60% of the wine underwent barrel ageing for 8 months in American oak, before back blending to produce this superb wine.

The colour is deep garnet red with purple tones. The nose has aromas of dark plums, red berries, chocolate, and spices, with hints of vanilla and smoke. The palate is medium-bodied, with rich fruit flavours of plum and blackberry. The oak comes through with defined tannins and stalky notes.

This is a wine of great finesse, powerful and rich, with a great structure.
