Finca La Estacada are making great wines in the sun drenched region of Cuenca, South East of Madrid, in the North-East of La Mancha, in one of the highest and coolest areas. The D.O. of Uclés is a very strict D.O. with yield restrictions based on the age of vine and the location in which they are planted.
Their wines are farmed at 850m elevation in clay soils with a lime substrate. Thanks to the high elevation and calcareous influence from the lime, the wines are lighter and brighter than one might expect from central Spain. The viticulture at Finca La Estacada “transitioning organic,” the climate and land easily suitable for working without systemic chemical influences.

After harvesting the grapes for this red wine cuvée, the grapes are selected, destemmed and then mash fermented in stainless steel tanks. After the fermentation process, this red wine then rounds for 18 months in American and French oak barrels (50% in each). It's here this wine gains its wonderful spicy aromas, velvety tannins and powerful colour.

Dense cherry red with a violet edge. The wonderfully complex bouquet of dark fruit are joinded on the palate by spices and the harmonious integration of fruit and barrel ageing leaves a broad, dry and long finish.

Decent Tempranillo blend, perfect for those cooler winter months ahead - this will warn the cockles! Just £7.95 a bottle.
