  • Origin: Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley, South Australia
  • Taste guide: Dry, medium bodied & oaked (but not heavily). Complex dark berry aromas with a hint of smoke. Palate is cherries soaked in cola, nuances of cocoa and vanilla pod, blackcurrants and vine-ripened blackberries too. Pleasant dry finish and aftertaste.

  • Serve with: Fantastic for pairing with meat cooked on the BBQ, slow-cooked cuts of beef, blackened chicken drumsticks, veggie burgers, and grilled Mediterranean vegetables also fine with this one!

The grapes are sourced from right next door to the famed vineyards of Wendouree, one of the jewels of Australian wine and Aberfeldy. The grapes are hand harvested, the fermentation is in concrete vats (with a shorter time than usual on the skins) and the wine is then aged in a combination of neutral (old and used) oak and concrete.

The idea behind this wine is to produce a a classic, punchy style of wine typical of the Clare Valley.


VineMind are entirely 'Clare'... The Clare Valley in South Australia, known for incredible age-worthy Riesling and Shiraz, but increasingly alternative varietals such as Vermentino and Malbec. VineMind are Doctors Jen Gardner and Col McBryde (of Adelina/Some Young Punks - fame) both with PhD's in, well, 'wine science' to keep it simple for you...if we get into what they each studied, we could be here a while.

Working closely with a small group of grape growers, (from recent plantings of Riesling across the Valley to 100-year-old Shiraz vines from a neighbouring vineyard, a stone’s throw from the winery) they experiment from a place of vinous inspiration. In fact, their wines are for those who are searching for something from the new world that will challenge their ideas about Australian wines!
