Description

  • Vintage: 2019
  • Origin: Penedès, Spain
  • Taste guide: Dry, medium bodied & oaked. Rich, tropical fruit nose of passion fruit and fig is backed up by creamy but subtle oak. The palate is elegant and well poised with citrus & grapefruit flavours balanced by that oak & vanilla again. This is a great wine from this excellent single estate.
  • 75cl - 13.5% - Traditional Cork Opening
  • Food pairing: Wonderful with all kinds of seafood, the wine also pairs well with grilled fish and poultry seasoned with aromatic herbs. A good match for salads and vegetable dishes too.
  • Suitable for vegetarians & vegans.

The Torres family has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, south-west of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. It is this tradition combined with innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality that has put Torres firmly on the world map.

The Fransola vineyard, located in the Alts d’Ancosa subzone in the Penedès uplands, is where 25 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc are grown (used to make our Fransola wine), together with Riesling and Forcada. The vineyard stands at 550 metres above sea level, in the municipality of Santa Maria de Miralles. The combination of this altitude plus the chalky clay soil with moderate drainage and a high water retention capacity is what allows these white varieties to develop optimally, resulting in wines with great aromatic expression.

Torres was voted " The World's Most Admired Wine Brand" in 2017 by a survey conducted by Drinks International.

Although an earlier vintage this wine is drinking superbly well and is thoroughly recommended.
