- Vintage: 2015
- Origin: Méntrida, Spain
- Taste guide: Deep ruby coloured with a violet rim, the wine shows blackcurrant, liquorice, mulberry and savoury oak notes, the full-bodied palate is well-structured with mineral and spice notes to a smooth finish. This one reminded me of a decent Rioja.

- Food pairings: Ideal with stews, rich pasta dishes or roasted meats.
The granitic vineyard of the Méntrida vineyards to the south-west of Madrid have a hot continental climate tempered by the influence of the river Tagus. Made from 100% Graciano which undergoes a malolactic fermentation and ageing for around eight months in oak barrels, 90% French.
€18 on one Irish website when we researched the wine, can’t find it in the UK as I type so great opportunity to source and enjoy a rare treat. It’s been bottled up for a decade so please let the wine breathe before consuming. (£14.99 RRP based on €17.95 price in Ireland)
