Spier is a producer of award winning wines that are sustainably grown. Like a chef’s signature dish, Spier’s Signature range of wines represents what Spier does best: making quality wines that capture each grape variety’s unique flavour.

  • Vintage: 2020
  • Origin: Stellenbosch, Western Cape W.O. South Africa
  • Taste guide: Dry, medium bodied and unoaked. Pale gold with fresh lime green flashes around the edge. Intense aromas of gooseberries, passion fruit, green and yellow peppers and hints of tropical fruit on the bouquet. There is a good balance between fruit and acidity on the silky palate which has the continuation of tropical fruit hints. Pleasant, lingering finish.
  • Food Pairing: Enjoy chilled with seafood, pasta, sushi , goats cheese or on its own.
  • 75cl - 13% - screwcap

The history of this beautiful and sprawling winery dates back to as early as 1692, which makes Spier one of the most ancient wineries in South Africa. The beauty of this winery is that the wines are created here with excellent precision, without causing any disturbance to the environment. Cellar Master Frances Smit joined the winery in 1996 and he is one of the major reasons for the transformation of this small Stellenbosch unit into one of the award-winning, reputed wineries that it is today.

One of the most popular wines from the Spier Winery is the Signature Collection. The wines in this range are made from the choicest of grapes that contain unique flavours are processed in such a way that their original character is retained in the wines.

The cellars of this winery are designed in such a way that the grapes are fermented with as little external interference as possible. All the elements were then carefully blended to produce the final wine.

Dry and crisp with a hint of acid on the back of the tongue Spier is a great Sauv Blanc at this price. More complex than most low cost Sauvignons.
