Produced from 12 to 18-year-old vines, mostly situated on the lower slopes and the flat ground of Joubert's Estate. The grapes for this Pinotage were harvested very early for a red wine, by mid-February, and the grapes were fermented at 22°C for 6 days. The pulp was then pressed before malolactic fermentation took place. 5% of the total quantity was matured in small barrels with the aim of adding a hint of wood but yet retaining lovely fruit character.

The colour is dark cherry with ripe plum notes on the nose with even hints of bananas plus nuances of light oaking. The palate is full and rounded with a fairly big structure. Fine, lively tannins with spice and peppery notes enhance the long finish.

This is a very classy wine indeed, drinking well now having benefited from a year or so in the bottle.
