Piccini Antica Cinta Chianti

• Taste guide: Grapes from the centre of Tuscany between Florence and Siena are used to make this bright, ruby-red wine with an intense and persistent fragrance of mature red fruit. It is a well structured, dry but smooth with soft tannins and distinct notes of more black than red fruit on the palate with delicate hints of oak and cherry. Really enjoyed this… unpretentious, easy drinking and would drink again!
• Food match: Tomato-based pasta dishes, pizza, grilled meats, cured meats, and hard Italian cheeses like Pecorino or Parmesan.

• Twiggy sediment in bottom of bottle (well our bottle) so decant or take care on last pour… or last sips!

Piccini is a historic Tuscan wine producer founded in 1882, with Antica Cinta Chianti rooted in traditional vineyards between Florence and Siena, where generations of the Piccini family have focused on expressing classic Chianti character through Sangiovese-led wines that balance bright cherry fruit, fresh acidity, and a strong sense of Tuscan heritage.

We found this at a couple of other merchants where it retailed for £10 (Jan ‘26) so a nice saving here again.
