Description

  • Vintage: 2019
  • Origin: Western Cape, South Africa
  • Taste guide: On the nose, you'll first notice the aromas of ripe peach, lime and vanilla, followed by hints of melon. On the palate, this Chardonnay is full-bodied and creamy, with flavours of baked apple, pear, and lemon zest. The oak notes are more pronounced on the palate, with hints of toasted bread and a touch of nutmeg. The wine has a well-balanced acidity that gives it a refreshing finish.
  • Food match: Great pairing for sushi, fish or poultry dishes.
  • 75cl - 13.5% TBC - screwcap

1791 was the year that Philippus Wolvaart arrived in The Cape, laying the foundation for what is now South Africa's most prized name in wine.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in the Paarl, Malmesbury and Philadelphia areas. The vines, situated on mostly south to south-westerly-facing slopes, are harvested by hand during February. Once fermentation is underway, 80% of the fermenting juice is transferred to a combination of new and second-fill French oak barrels, where the wine remains on the lees for approximately six months.

Nederburg The Manor Chardonnay is an elegant and complex wine that will delight both Chardonnay aficionados and newcomers to the varietal alike.
