Nederburg Heritage Heroes, The Brew Master
Description
- Vintage: 2020
- Origin: Western Cape W.O. South Africa
- Taste guide: Dark cherry, plum, black and blue berries, vibrant spice - all the elements of a good fruitcake in one mouthful. Fresh, bright and initially tautly structured, the flavours unfurl to reveal a supple, rounded and inviting melange of dark fruits, with pencil shavings and hint of cocoa. Poised and cohesive with good concentration, depth and density, it’s a wine to enjoy now or cellar for a few years.
- Varietal blend: Cabernet Sauvignon (59%), Merlot (13%) Petit Verdot (12%), Cabernet Franc (8%), Malbec (8%)
- Food match: Slow-roasted lamb shoulder, shank or leg with rosemary and garlic; rich oxtail or duck, robust chicken and pasta dishes, hearty soups and mature cheeses.
- 75cl - 14% - Traditional Cork Opening
- This wine comes in a beautiful, heavy and embossed bottle, screams quality and will be sure to impress if you are thinking of gifting a bottle or two.
With more than 300 years of winemaking history, South Africa is one of the most relevant wine producing countries in the Southern Hemisphere, repeatedly regarded as a bridge between the Old and the New World. Vines were first planted in South Africa by Dutch colonists in the 1650s and Nederberg was founded as far back as 1791!
The Brew Master is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc that commemorates Johann Graue, who took over Nederburg in 1937. Classic in style with concentrated dark fruit aromas and flavours, and hints of vanilla. Serve with hearty fare, from casseroles and stews to poultry and pasta dishes.
