Châteauneuf-du-Pape was the first appellation in France to receive AOC classification in 1936. It is known for the remarkable diversity of its soils. The appellation counts four different terroirs originating from three distinctive geological eras: limestone fragments, rolled pebbles, sandy soils and red sandstones. This geological diversity provides a complex aromatic palette and great flavor richness to the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which are renowned worldwide for their finesse and elegance.
Created in 1880, the Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes is a legendary wine of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The high quality of this terroir has allowed this wine to very quickly become a benchmark of the appellation.
