- Taste guide: Smooth, medium-full bodied and oaked. Classic ripe red cherry aromas, notes of savoury kalamata olives, sweet cinnamon spice, and floral & herbaceous touches. On the palate there is oak and a nice freshness with forward red fruits, balanced acidity and silky soft tannins.
- Food Pairing: Will work particularly well with cheddar cheese and/or tomato based pasta dishes, try also with roast lamb or meatballs in tomato sauce.

Cabernet Franc is more widely known as one of the main grapes of the right bank of Bordeaux and the central part of the Loire Valley however South Africa, and in particular Stellenbosch and the surrounding Cape, are producing some excellent examples at the moment. This wine from one of our favourite producers, Journey's End, is from a single vineyard 180m above sea level and has been hand sorted before fermenting in large oak foudres and then maturing in second fill oak barrels for 14 months.
