FAIRTRADE WINE

Riebeek Cellars was founded in 1941 by descendants of the Huguenots who had originally settled in Franschoek. The cellar is a co-operative with 1500 hectares under vine with 60% of fruit production graded as either premium or ultra-premium. All grapes are Fairtrade certified and sourced from Fairtrade producers.

The winemaker for this Chenin was Karen Brewer at Riebeek Cellars in Swartland. This cooler-climate region not far from Cape Town is 'up-and-coming' and home to many admired vineyards.

Predominantly free run juice is used for Fish Hoek Chenin Blanc, which is then fermented at very low temperatures to capture and retain the upfront fruit flavours.

The resultant wine shows intense tropical fruit on the nose following through onto the palate with melon, ripe white pear and peach and a crisp finish. This is a signature Chenin Blanc.

This wine lends itself beautifully to seafood, light poultry dishes and salads.
