This wonderful and rather rare white Wine from Fantinel is grown in Vencò, in the heart of the DOC Collio. You simply won't find it at multiple retailers.
Rare microclimate, focused clonal research and careful selection of the best grapes and peculiar enhancement of Friulian indigenous vine varieties create a limited production which embraces the special characteristics of the typical Collio vineyards. They are the whites and reds of the Sant’Helena line, a superior expression of the quality of Fantinel wines.
This white is produced entirely with Tocai Friulano grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand. After a short cold maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages for a short period in steel before being bottled.
Crisp orchard fruits with white wildflowers, peppery spices, fresh-pressed herbs, bitter almonds, and lime zest. This wine puts it's keen acidity front and centre, but lush, creamy fruits provide a compelling counterweight; bitter almonds and sneaky minerality.
Pairings: finger food, hors d’oeuvres, risottos. Excellent with San Daniele cured ham.
As mentioned above you will not find this wine in UK muliples and select independent wine retailers that do stock this wine retatil it for £13-£15.
