Wine has been made on the site of Château Thénac for over 900 years – first by Benedictine monks and then, after their priory was demolished, winemaking recommenced in 1621.
Vinification; the end of winter was mild, causing an early budburst with the first buds appearing at the end of March - 10 days earlier than usual. Despite the late frost at the end of April, which fortunately did not affect the vineyard at Château Thénac, the early nature of things continued until the heat wave of June, when we experienced temperatures above 35°C between the 18th to 23rd June. The vines grew in an uncontrolled way and green harvesting had to be done in record time. The weather conditions then reversed, and the next three months were relatively cool, with little sun and no rain. This period meant that, having started early, could eventually slowly reach perfect maturity in a harmonious way and without any excess.
We cannot find this elsewhere in the UK market, some imported prices are close to £20 a bottle so we estimate the original RRP at circa £15. Get a quality Bergerac white blend from us for less than £10!
