Description

  • Vintage: 2018 - D.O. Empordà
  • Origin: Spain
  • Taste guide: Dry, medium-full bodied & unoaked; Rich at first with a flinty character, nose of lemon, apple, pear and a hint of white peach. Some toasty nuances in the background, smooth, full mouthfeel and palate notes that mirror the nose. Loosens up and almost gets sweeter as it breathes, this is something a little different!
  • Varietal: 100% Macabeo
  • 75cl - 12.5% - Traditional Cork Opening
  • Pairing: It makes a perfect aperitif wine for hot summer days but can also be paired with white fish and seafood dishes. The delicate nature of the wine won’t stand up to heavier flavours. Creamy cheeses such as Brie, Camembert, goat’s cheese or Mozzarella are good matches.

Since 1995, with the help of one of the country’s most prestigious ornithologists, Peralada committed to an extensive conservation project in an effort to protect storks (“cigonyes” in Catalan). Nowadays, about thirty stork couples nest in the park that surrounds the castle as a result of the project. These wines, based on autochthonous varietals, celebrate the success of this reintroduction program.

The prestigious and successful winery with its wide range of excellent wines produced at the emblematic Perelada Castle is run by the business-minded Suqué Mateu family.

Various outlets retail for £10 but we found it at £18.99 from 'The Grape Reserve' - just £7.99 from us!
