Description

  • Vintage: 2014
  • Origin: Bodegas, Spain
  • Grape Variety: Tempranillo (90%), Mazuelo (5%) and Graciano (5%).
  • Taste Guide: Medium-full bodied & oaked. Intense yet mellow aromas of ripe raspberry and fig, mingling with subtle vanilla, coconut and spicy notes. Supple and soft on the palate, with plenty of youthful fruit that over delivers on the finish. A wine with character which showcases the quality of the grapes used to make it.
  • 75cl - 14% - Traditional Cork Closure
  • Food pairing: A good Rioja/Crianza to have with white and red grilled meats, tapas or even seasoned, grilled tuna steak.

Arienzo, from Bodegas Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, is made from a selection of the best Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano grapes from the vineyards located in Laguardia and Elciego. Once the grapes have been received in the winery when they reach their optimum point of maturity, the natural processes of alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation will start in stainless steel tanks, where they will be made under close temperature control conditions. After the fermentation process, the wine is stored/oaked for 18 months in American oak barrels. Will cellar well for another couple of years yet.

Originally produced for the upmarket restaurant trade where it would easily appear on a wine list for £20+

Note that this wine has thrown some totally harmless sediment which will have settled at the bottom of the bottle. To repeat this is totally harmless, do not affect the taste, and ironically show that this is a quality, unfiltered wine. Just be careful when pouring the last drop.
