'Fantinel' is the flagship estate of one of Italy’s most globally recognisable brands, and one of its largest with over 300 hectares of vineyards spread over Italy.
With an vast global presence, Fantinel vineyards have managed to extend their brand to over 90 countries. Focusing on high quality, specialty shops selling only the best of Italian viniculture, the Fantinel family has managed to become an important player in the international wine scene and a key factor in helping Italian wine producers gain a foothold in less established global markets.
In the glass it has a ruby red color, with light garnet reflections. The aromas in the nose are intense, fragrant and complex, with hints of fruit from the undergrowth that alternate with spicy and woody nuances. On the palate it is full-bodied, rich, perfectly balanced. Closes with a persistent finish.
Worth decanting this wine prior to drinking as it will soften the texture and give a more velvet-like finish. We personally give it around an hour before we pour ours - if we can wait that long!
Pairs well with rich cheeses and most red meat dishes, from bolognese to steak dinners to game dishes.
Originally produced for upmarket restaurants where it retailed for £15+ and has since filtered down to a handful of etailers at circa £8.
