This dry white is part of the "Pierre et Papa" range of high quality wines produced across southern France. The brand name is inspired by the fanciful tales of Pierre Renard and his father, both dedicated winemakers, with the label being influenced by old advertising ephemera.
This superb wine is a blend of famed Gascogne varietals - Colombard (80%) and Ugni Blanc (20%) sourced from approximately 20 year-old vines on selected plots in the area of Comté Tolosan around Toulouse in Gascony. This area benefits hugely from the influence of the Atlantic, giving freshness and acidity and making it perfect for white wine production.
The grapes were picked at night, destemmed and then underwent a skin contact maceration. A gentle and meticulous pressing led to a soft extraction of the most aromatic juices. Ageing was in tanks to keep a fruity style.
The wine has a pale lemon colour and exhibits an aromatic bouquet with grapefruit, lemon and peach fruitiness wrapped in floral notes of elderflower. The palate is equally complex, refreshingly fruity and crisp with a good and persistent finish.
An elegant and harmonious wine great with seafood, cheese, white meats or on its own as an aperitif.
We just love Southern French wines and can highly recommend this.
Yet again a wine cleared by the importer due to lockdown overstocks with the savings being passed on to you.
The recommended retail price is £8.99 - at Binendwines just £6.75.
