The Raimat Winery, owned by the giant Cordoniu group, pioneered and was the force behind the granting of D.O. status to the Costers del Segre region in Catalunya.
This wine takes its name from the fog which is often seen over the vineyards in early moring - in the Catalan language called Boira. Produced from 100% organic Garnatxa Negra (Red Garnacha/Red Grenache) grapes grown on Raimats own estate vineyards in Costers del Segre.
The grapes were fermented at a regulated temperature of 25-28 °C in stainless steel tanks to preserve this varietal’s fruitiness, freshness and elegance. A small batch was fermented at a higher temperature to contribute good tannins, colour and aromas to the final blend. Following fermentation it was racked in other vats for malolactic fermentation. The entire winemaking process for this wine complies with organic winemaking principles.
The wine is cherry red in colour and offers a nose of blackberries and cranberries, with notes of violets and aniseed. The palate has pominent fruitiness of ripe blackberries and blueberries intermingled with violets and aniseed aromas.
