Origin: Rosemount Estate, South East Australia
Taste guide: Medium bodied, berry, currant and stonefruit flavours, spice and pepper notes, rich and velvety, lightly oaked
75cl - 13.5% - screwcap
One of a range of wines launched in 2016 by Rosemount Estate to match wines with certain meals. In hindsight this seems to us at Binendwines to be rather condescending. Needless to say so did consumers and the range was withdrawn within a few years, resulting in us able to offer this wine at a discount price.
Basically this is Rosemount's usual Shiraz/Cabernet blend under a revised label. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were separately harvested from vineyards in the Murray/Darling valley area and vinified separately. The constituent wines were blended by Rosemount's top winemakers - approx. 85% Shiraz and 15% Cabernet - with 10% of this wine being oaked for 3 months and 90% matured in stainless steel vats. The final wine was then back blended and bottled.
The colour is dark plum red with purple hues. The nose shows lifted raspberries, plums and blackcurrant, with hints of white pepper and bay leaf. On the palate there is a vibrant burst of raspberries, plums and blackcurrants, closely followed by subtle pepper and spice notes, and finaally a dusting of milk chocolate. A
soft, juicy and refreshing delight!
As already advised this wine has been withdrawn from the UK market, but sold for £7.99 when available. Binendwines' discount price is just £5.95.
