Obika wines individually express ethnic charm and character with a distinctive South African heritage. Just like the OBiKWA people used to tread lightly to look after their environment, the OBiKWA producers are also trail blazers in minimizing their carbon footprint.
They have a strong commitment toward sustainability and the environment, and they adhere to eco-friendly practices at every stage of the process, from growing their grapes in the vineyards, right up until the wines are bottled in the OBiKWA winery.
Produced from select Chardonnay grapes grown in vineyards across the sun-drenched Western Cape region and vinified in the Adam Tas Cellars in Stellenbosch. Fementation was under temperature-controlled conditions in stainless steel vats with a proportion of the wines given a short ageing in oak, before the final wine was expertly blended from its constituents.
The wine is a light golden yellow and offers a fruity pear & peach bouquet leading to marmalade-inspired pear & peach on the palate. The finish is long and satisfying with hints of wood and spice.
A rarely seen wine so a retail price elsewhere cannot be determined but Binendwines' price of just £4.95 has got to be a bargain.
