Origin: Western Cape W.O. South Africa
Taste guide: Dry, tropical fruit flavours, citrus notes, crisp and fresh, unoaked
75cl - 12.5% - screwcap
Produced by a top South African winemaker for a division of renowned importer Bibendum specifically for the now defunct Wine Rack chain.
Grapes harvested from some of the best vineyards in the Western Cape wine region and fermented in stainless steel to retain all the inherent freshness of this varietal.
As is the practice with all good vignerons, the resultant wine was not all bottled immediately but kept in temperature-controlled vats and only bottled when needed. This particular batch was bottled early 2018 so is still vibrant and fresh.
The colour is pale straw, the bouquet is fresh and fruity, the palate delivering tropical fruits such as white peaches and nectarines. South African Sauvignon is that little bit different to say New Zealand examples, with softer tropical fruit flavours and just hints of elderflower and citrus.
Produced to sell around £6.99, Binendwines' price is just £4.95.
