Taste guide: Dry, fresh and crisp peach and apple fruit flavours, unoaked
75cl - 14% - screwcap
KWV is one of the older wine companies of the Western Cape and is a co-operative with a high proportion of black ownership.
Grenache Blanc is a grape usually employed in blends but here in the sun-drenched Western Cape of South Africa it shines as a single varietal.
Produced from grapes harvested from some of the best vineyards and vinified in an ultra-modern winery.
The colour is pale straw and the nose exhibits tropical fruit flavours with hints of green fruit. The palate is crisp and fresh with tropical fruit flavours such as peach and nectarine mingled with notes of crisp Granny Smith apples. This leads to a satisfying and lengthy finish which exhibits roasted almond notes.
Grenache Blanc is a rarely seen wine - if you like Chenin Blanc, you will love this.
Sells for £7 and over in other outlets, offered here at just £5.50.
