Origin: Western Cape W.O. South Africa
Taste guide: Medium bodied, cassis and blackberry fruit flavours, softened tannins, unoaked
75cl - 14% - screwcap
A "special" label wine produced by one of South Africa's top volume winemakers for a very respected supplier to the retail and restaurant trade.
This wine was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the sun-drenched Western Cape wine region. Following harvest, the juice was fermented for five days on the skins to preserve as much fruit as possible and extract enough colour without extracting too many tannins. The wine was then aged for about nine months in French oak.
The colour is deep ruby red and shows blackcurrant and blackberry fuit with sweet spices on the nose. The palate is rich and mouth-filling with cassis, forest berry and plum fruit flavours balanced with softened tannins.
Seen elsewhere at prices up to £6.52. This archetypal Cabernet Sauvignon is cracking value at Binendwines - just £4.75.
