Viognier is a most capricious grape being quite difficult to cultivate. Originally from the Rhône valley, it has now been successfully established in the Languedoc region of southern France. As these vines have matured they are producing wine which is more than a match for Rhône examples.

This wine is made by the renowned co-operative - Producteurs Réunis - who produce many wines for most of the major UK outlets.

Viognier has a unique bouquet and palate - floral notes of honeysuckle and nectar on the nose with a palate of tropical fruit flavours, peaches, nectarines and apricots with hints of sherbet. These slightly sweet flavours are balanced by crisp and fresh tones to produce a considered and food-friendly white wine. This is quite a crisp Viognier - nicely acidic.

This is an excellent aperitif but goes equally well with salads, grilled fish and all types af Asian foods. We just like drinking it on its own.

Another wine from a discontinued wine business which personalised bottles, so here is offered with just the back labels.

A similar Pays d'Oc Viognier would be around £8 - this wine was originally sold at an incredible £12.75, so no wonder they went bust!

At Binendwines this was  a bargain at £5.95 -but is now an incredible £4.50 to clear the last few bottles.
