Vegan/Vegetarian Wines

Following fermentation, the resultant wine will contain residual dead yeast cells, and these need to be removed to produce a clear wine. This process is called fining and traditionally the winery would use either isinglass, obtained from fish swim bladders, or egg whites. The former being unsuitable for Vegetarians and both for Vegans.

Many wineries have now adopted the use of bentonite or Kaolin clays or other mineral based powders. This enables the wine to be declared Vegan and Vegetarian friendly and we have now identified these on our website.
