Origin: Central Valley, Chile - Viña Luis Felipe Edwards
Taste guide: Medium bodied, berry and currant fruit flavours, delicate floral notes, oaked
75cl - 12.5 % - screwcap
Luis Felipe Edwards Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to which is added 9% Alicante Bouschet to bring extra colour, and 6% Cabernet Franc to provide body, flavour and complexity. Each varietal was grown in select vineyards in Chile's Central Valley, then harvested and vinified separately. The resultant wines were then aged for 3 months in a mixture of French and American oak before being blended by Luis Felipe Edwards' award-winning winemakers and then bottled.
The colour of this wine is intense ruby. The nose is very fruity with aromas of red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by toasted notes of vanilla and nuts. On the palate are prominent notes of blackberries, blackcurrant and dried fruits which are complemented by savoury dryness, sweet green peppers plus soft tannins for extra body and support.
A very easy drinking wine, yet with complexities which bely its price.
Ideal served with grilled or roast red meats, spicy meat dishes and cured meat platters. We enjoyed it with a Bolognese pasta dish.
