"The Mas - the Catalan country house - bears witness to the agricultural life of these lands. A self-sufficient space: a home for the family, a cellar for the wine and land for the vineyards. A most original Mas sits near the Fox River, shielded for centuries by an ancient holm oak. The country house, which dates from the 14th Century, is a local landmark in the production of wine and olive oil. Mas Rabell and its vineyards have been in the famous Torres family for two generations."
For production, the grapes are macerated for 2 weeks and then fermented for one week in stainless steel containers.
After the winemaking process, Mas Rabell is aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels.
This is a bold, complex red wine with a bouquet of dark red berry and earthiness on the nose. This carries onto the palate with hints of spice and vanilla joining the party... is this a Rioja in disguise!? We will let you make your mind up on that but we loved this.
Pairs well with red meat, Beans & pulses and certainly a good Sunday Roast, (it was actually roast chicken) which is what we enjoyed it with!
You simply will not find this in UK supermarkets or even the restaurant trade.
BinEndWines' price is a 16% saving on the only other UK retailer to have this rare wine available.
