Produced for wine importer Bibendum by the Gabb family who own over 120ha of vineyards across various wine areas in the Western Cape region of South Africa. In making wine their philosophy is one of minimum intervention – the aim to create top-quality appellation wines that intricately express the terroir of the region.

Pinot Gris is ostensibly the same grape as Pinot Grigio, but variances in clones, rootstocks and most importantly the climate and soils where it is grown, confer on Pinot Gris more differences than similarities. It is particularly suited to The Western Cape where the warm climate is tempered by ocean breezes.

Produced from select grapes grown on estate vineyards across the sun-blessed Western Cape and vinified and blended in the Gabb Family winery in Somerset West. Stainless steel is used throughout to ensure the fruitiness is maintained and this wine has seen no oak 

This is a bright clear wine, with a light golden colour and green tint. Sweet rose and litchi aromas which follow through into the palate which is crisp and fresh with layers of apple, quince and pear.  These characters are balanced by a crisp acidity and intense tropical fruit flavours.

Enjoy on its own and would make an excellent accompaniment to fish dishes, white meats, pasta and salads.

Not found in retail, we believe this wine was produced solely for the restaurant trade. Was on sale at £6.75 - now further reduced to just £5.95 for the last few bottles..

NB Like all the best wines, this was not over filtered and has thrown some harmless tartrates, so be careful with the last few drops.
