A blend of Shiraz (49%) and Grenache (46%), with 5% Mourvèdre added as a backbone; hence SGM.
This is the archetypal Rhône style.
The old vine Grenache provides raspberry and black cherry fruit flavours; the Shiraz brings bramble and cassis; with the Mourvèdre giving balance, backbone and verve, all supported by a firm yet fine tannin structure.
The well-integrated oak adds complexity and vanillan sweet toast notes to the finished wine.
The winery indicates that this wine will age well and drink up to 2014.
